The Reversal by Michael Connelly
Publisher: Little, Brown, & Company
Release Date: October 5th, 2010
CONTEST IS OVER.
Longtime defense attorney Mickey Haller is recruited to change stripes and prosecute the high-profile retrial of a brutal child murder. After 24 years in prison, convicted killer Jason Jessup has been exonerated by new DNA evidence. Haller is convinced Jessup is guilty, and he takes the case on the condition that he gets to choose his investigator, LAPD Detective Harry Bosch.
Together, Bosch and Haller set off on a case fraught with political and personal danger. Opposing them is Jessup, now out on bail, a defense attorney who excels at manipulating the media, and a runaway eyewitness reluctant to testify after so many years.
With the odds and the evidence against them, Bosch and Haller must nail a sadistic killer once and for all. If Bosch is sure of anything, it is that Jason Jessup plans to kill again.

Jason Jessup is smug in his conviction he will be released from prison for the muder of a young girl. He plans for TV movies and book deals to result. With the help of a sympathetic judge, he has already been released on bail.
Mickey Haller usually works from the "other side of the tracks" but has been hired as an objective attorney. If Jason walks he's been set up to take the fall. Even though Mickey is sure Jason is guilty, he's got to convince a disbelieving jury before Jason finds his next victim.
The Reversal is a gritty crime drama which exposes both the good and bad of society. There's not a pat "this is the way we'd like it to happen" ending. Instead, it's based on reality which leaves one speculating on what will happen next.
Mickey's character is well developed, making one aware of both his strengths and his weaknesses. Paired together on the case with his ex-wife, his follibles quickly rise to the surface. For anyone interested in a suspenseful thriller, The Reversal will have you wishing justice would be served.
The winner is #10, T.
