You Want Fries With That?

No, this is not a life sized package of McDonald's fries. My daughter and her friends are "getting in touch with their artistic side" by visiting the Hunter Museum of Art. This statue is called "Balance."

Because each person interprets the statue in their own way, the challenge was to "move like the statue makes you feel."

Everyone had to give the statue of a dog high fives. Too bad he is called "Four Paws."

My daughter just wanted to hold his paw.

Obviously you can't explore your artistic side without feeling the rhythm. Or eating a quick snack. Discovering art is hard work!

I have just spent 15 minutes searching for the French fry sculpture that was on Pitt's campus when I was in school. I will be forced to scan a photo of me wearing purple spandex pants, if I want to show you the fries. Oh, well.
I did find a similar sculpture at the University of Florida, which leads me to wonder exactly how many of these things exist. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sylvar/42300631/

  22. I love places where you can interact with the art! There's a great museum in Phoenix where my kids were able to practice making art of different mediums--super fun.
