Yes, thanks to Alexia at Alexia's Books and Such, you get to learn ten semi-interesting facts about me. She gave me "The Sugar Doll Award." If you haven't met Alexia, be sure to check out her blog. I've enjoyed getting to know her over the past few months.
Since I've already shared "interesting" facts several times before, I am trying to think of non repetitive facts.
Here's the rules:
• Thank the person who gave this to you.
• Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
• Link the person who nominated you.
• Name ten fun facts about yourself.
1. I have had two broken bones. The first was caused by my daughter when she was eighteen months old. She accidentally hit me in the nose with her hard little head. The doctors at the ER never believed me when I explained how my nose had been broken.
2. My second broken bone was caused by Sassie (probably on purpose.) She spilled her water bowl all over the floor. I slid on the water in the middle of the night and fractured my knee.
3. My worst trip ever was on a business trip to Mexico with Bryan. His coworker's wife died suddenly while we were there. Bryan spent his time at the funeral home trying to arrange to have the body released to be sent back the US. Not a relaxing trip for anyone.
4. My children believe my purpose in life is to torment them with educational activities. When Bryan told me he couldn't go on vacation this summer, he suggested I take the children somewhere. "How about New Orleans or Washington, DC?" I asked.
"No!" They said, "You plan to make it into an educational trip!"
5. My house seems to be a teenage haven. Last night, three teenagers showed up at our door and asked if my daughter had arrived home yet. They decided to wait for her in her room. Instead, they came into the bedroom with me and told me about which pictures I should download from their facebook accounts and feature on my blog.
6. I am unable to sew. I took one year of sewing in high school and people mocked my creations the entire year. I can't say I blame them. They were awful. I do sew buttons and ripped hems but that's all I can manage.
7. I picked out my daughter's name when I was eighteen. I didn't use the name until six years later.
8. I won the Four Year Creative Writing award in high school and participated in state English competitions.
9. I enjoy reading, but the worst story I ever read was "The Lottery" in a high school English class.
10. One vegetable that I absolutely cannot stand is brussel sprouts. Yuck!
I'd like to share this award with all my bloggy buddies. If you write out your ten facts, be sure to let me know so I can read them.
Alexia also gave me the "Blogger Buddy" Award. It's awarded to the top twelve most frequent commenters on one's blog. While I usually share my awards with everyone, I want my commenters to know how much I appreciate them. I guess I can't regift it to Alexia, but she is a great blogger buddy.

1. Parsley at Seasons of My Mind
2. Crossview at Down a Red Dirt Lane
3. Tara at Keeping Up with the Kellys
4. Darcie at Life's Unfolding Story

Thanks to all my commenters, I love to hear from you all. You are all great and I enjoy reading your comments--except for those silly spam comments in Chinese.

Well done on the award. Some great facts. Our dog broke my nose whilst jumping for a ball, no one believed me either.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to get to know you better and thank you for gifting the award.
ReplyDeleteHey...we got some postcards from you yesterday! THANKS! Yours is on the way..I was slow getting them out.
I remember "The Lottery"! I don't know if I hated it but I sure haven't forgotten it! LOL!
ReplyDeletePleased don't hate me but I love brussel sprouts. Better yet, send me yours! ;o)
I can't sew, either. I often wish I could...
The Mexico trip? Ugh! =(
And thank you for the award! *BIG cheesy grin*
LOL, my freshman son was just complaining about "The Lottery"! Thanks for the award.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the award and I always love reading random facts about people that in a 'normal' conversation, you wouldn't have a reason to share. I hated to do it but I had to turn the word verification back on to eliminate those doggone comments in Chinese.
ReplyDeleteAnother one here who loves brussel sprouts :)Love your list! Congrats on your much deserved awards! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThe Lottery was the most terrifying story ever written. Do they still teach that story in school? Just reading the title on your blog has me now wanting to vomit. We are heading to the beach with church friends for a walk. When the pastor asks about prayer, I shall suggest we pray that no one ever subjects young minds to that scariness. I am a huge proponent of not censoring the written word, but that story...ewwwww.
ReplyDeleteI will eat your Brussels sprouts, but only taby kind by Hannover. Those are yummy, especially cold with balsamic vinegar. Yeah, a lot of people are probably getting sick at the thought of that dish, but it is good.
I get the Chinese spam too! I always wondered what it said. Probably, it is some kind of recipe!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the award, I feel loved. I've broken sooooo any bones.Almost all of my fingers, toes, roots on my teeth, my nose, my actual skull 3 times but it is hard to remember. And dislocated so many joints that I don't even freak out anymore! Oh and don't forget the nerve damage!
Is it TMI yet?
Have a great weekend, well what is left of it.
Broken bones run through your family!!
ReplyDeleteLove how your daughters friends hung out with you till she came home. That says alot!!! Awesome!!
And thank you for the comment award! So sweet!!! I love visiting your blog!
I think 'The Lottery' is the only book that I ever read that still sticks in my mind. What a crazy story! Brussel sprouts are much loved in my house. I have learned to roast them just right! Congrats on your award! Thanks for passing it along!
ReplyDeleteI made an apron in 7th grade that my mom still has. It was my one and only masterpiece. It's made from a strip of bright yellow material. It is probably the easiest project ever-but I did a great job at it!!
ReplyDeleteI often have teens at my house too-it's because we are cool moms! Yay for us!! My son rarely goes to other peoples houses, the boys are here almost every weekend.
Wow--my trip to Mexico was so uneventful. No deaths at all!!
Don't feel bad I cannot sew a single stitch to save my life. I passed home-ec with a D in HS. My cooking is the only thing that has improved, as I no longer catch the oven on fire when I bake muffins! My house is a haven for teenagers as well, even though I have no children near teenage(my husbands lil brother is in Highschool though)I really liked this post.
ReplyDeletePam, thank you, thank you! You are SOOOO fun. What's cool is that your writing has soaked up all those experiences and been flavored richly!!!
ReplyDeleteSigh. I will work on figuring out the link and the answers to the questions. Yep. The old dog thing.
Blessings on the funnest post!!
Patti
Thanks for the award! I remember reading the Lottery! However it was the Steven King one I think... Not the same one?
ReplyDeleteAs for the bummy posting today that I did... My son wants to apparently break the record for the most piercings and tattoos. Oh and longest hair, so he can cover these things up when grandma and grandpa visit. I've given birth to Marilyn Manson... I should look up his/her mother. We'd have a lot to discuss... I'm very down, but you're right. This post perked me up! Thanks! I'll start work on my list of little known facts this afternoon.
Thanks for the award. I don't think I can put it on my blog as I don't think I have 12 most frequent commenters! Smile! I'm thinking about the semi-intersting facts... I've just revelaed I'm not a 'pink' person. I'll let you know if I get inspired!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
Sarah
Kudos on your well-deserved awards! I enjoyed learning a bit more about you. The 'teenage hangout' thing reminds me of the 4 years a friend (and her three teenage daughters) lived with me in the early 1990s while I was trying to hang on the house after the divorce. I've never broken a bone but I did fall and dislocate a finger once and getting the use of it back took quite some time.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for passing these awards along. I appreciate the linky-luv! I'm not sure when I'll get around to sharing because life's way too busy right now, but I'll be sure to let you know when I do.
Hugs and blessings,
Imagine all those pets breaking noses! Fun facts: I can't sew either, I hated The Lottery, but I love brussel sprouts!
ReplyDeleteOh cool awards! I enjoyed learning more about you!
ReplyDeleteI also checked out the other blogs you mentioned in your meme! Oh and by the way I love brussel sprouts but I am the only one who does in my family! :) Have a great day!
Love learning more about people with these fun facts! My pets have never broken my bones, but we had a dog once who chipped my front tooth. She jumped up on me when we picked her up from the boarder after vacation. Got me right under the chin and my jaw snapped shut, chipping the tooth. Couldn't blame her though, as she was so happy to see us!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the brussel sprouts - ewwwwwwww! Of course, there are very few veggies I like. :p
I'll meet you in New Orleans if the kids don't want to go! Love your educational trips! :)
Congrats on the award! You definitely deserve it! I agree with you that that must be the worst trip. Thank you for sharing all these with us. I had fun reading through some of them. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award! Those are interesting facts about you. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteNow I´m off to find out what is brussel sprout
Aaaaah, we call that Rosenkohl in Germany and I hate that too. eeeeeeek
ReplyDeleteThat completely cracked me up about your kids thinking you're trying to educate them at every opportunity!
ReplyDeleteLove the fact that your daughter's friends hung out with you while waiting. That means you're a cool mom!
Congrats on the award!
Thank you, thank you so much for passing on this award. I know how much comments mean to me, and I always imagine they make others feel the same way.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your awards...you are deserving Pam. Love your blog! PS...got my package today, can't wait to listen to it. Thanks for all the fun books that I have won here!!!
