The Life of the Party

Every year we host a Christmas gathering with some of our friends. We have plenty of food...

and a tacky gift exchange. This year I had been sharing with some friends from church that I wanted a Dyson vacuum cleaner. As a hostess gift I was given a beautifully wrapped box. Inside was the dyson vacuum cleaner box of my dreams. When I opened the box I found...a broom and a dustpan.

After everyone left, my spare kid told me, "The H's seem nice, except for crushing your hopes and dreams about the vacuum."

What celebration would be complete without a cute kid playing in the midst of the wrapping paper?

I think my daughter is trying to help the baby back into a sitting position.

Everyone had tons of fun, except the baby's mom. The little cutie was so excited she stayed awake all night and did not let her parents sleep.

Also, I know I have been MIA in blogland for the past few weeks! I have had an extremely busy month. I'll try to visit everyone ASAP.

  4. We are leaving soon for our small group Christmas party. We have to take a tacky (gag) gift too and I hope everybody likes mine. I love the broom/dustpan idea...I could have used that one but somebody will be getting a bag of "coal" tonight!

  8. Fun blog! We play "White Elephant" on Christmas Eve and have recycled hysterical things over the past, um--it can't be 24 years, CAN IT??

My favorite? A baby alligator, dressed in a BASEBALL uniform. Someone gave it to my husband, um, over 40 years ago. Whoever wins it has to keep it in their room ALL YEAR!!!!!!

    Love your blog

  13. I've been coveting a Dyson, too. It's on my list to save for after the first. But the broom and dusstpan was hilarious for a tacky gift theme - as long as you didn't get your feelings hurt. ;o)

    The goodies look delicious!
