Growing Up?

Want to have some fun with your teenager over the weekend? Take them for a college tour. Because my daughter needs a pre-med program, we decided to attend the "Fall for Emory" day in Atlanta.

Here's my daughter showing her pleasure of spending the day with us while standing beside Emory's unofficial mascot, Dooley. He's dressed for "Breast Cancer Awareness Month."

I loved how their student center and cafe overlooked their theatre.

Here's what my daughter had rather have been doing.

Hanging out with friends...

Participating in horrible sounding karoke....

and dressing up as "Calculus Girl" at a friend's house. She has some sort of physics theory written on the back of her shirt.

  3. Oh yes, college tours. I'm guessing from the looks of it, she won't be attending Emory or maybe she will...just not with the family.

  4. I hope she won't miss you guys too much. ;o)

    The campus is beautiful!

Mine aren't allowed to leave. Ever. They disagree.

  5. Wow! I can't believe all of our "babies" are ready for college!! You could tell her that you want to be like the Disney Goofy movie, where he goes back to college with his son. I'm sure she would welcome that :)! Have a great day!

  6. Makes me sad for you that she is growing up and soon will be away. A vision of my own future.

  10. OMGosh, your dd and mine would be bff's. I'm not kidding. Dd went to school for Halloween as an overworked, overtired AP student - a sign around her neck read "Will work for test answers" - I won't show her this post because she would think Calculus Girl would make a great super hero costume for next year. Is Emory her first choice?

  16. Wow pre-med! Right now my oldest son wants to be either a race car driver, fireman (as long as he can drive the firetruck) or an astronaut. Good think we have a while yet to decide :-)

  17. It is such an exciting time for her and such a heart pinching time for you. How wonderful that she is focused and knows what she wants to do. Your photos made me feel very, very old :-). I hope you are having a great Outdoor Wednesday.

  18. What a funny post! I think it's so neat that she is looking into pre-med. My BIL was a doctor, and several of his daughters are nurses (supervisors and what not). I think it's great when young women go to med school. I have friends who braved that frontier years ago, and they are wonderful, compassionate doctors.

    Happy Outdoor Wed...

    Sheila :-)

  20. Ha ha ha, she looks so thrilled!

I did a college tour with my grandfather, now THAT was fun. None of his old cronies at the college remembered him and instead of touring we walked from office, to office, to office. At least he's a great sport and made it fun anyway by laughing about it.

  29. Cute post! I have one left at home and he will not be leaving until next year. When we toured some colleges, he acted (and looked) like he was bored but in actuality, he was pretty excited. so he told me later! Teenagers!

Thanks for sharing the tour with us!

  30. Depending on how many colleges you have to visit, they DO get old!

  31. Wow, pre-med! Congratulations to your daughter. The first picture cracked me up. She will continue to have that look on her face (at least until she needs money lol) Have fun finding just the right place for her. Kathy

  32. Love the pictures! Your kids always look so cheerful and happy whenever you have family outings! *L*

I remember that my mother cried all the way home from our college tours,as it must have finally hit her that I would be leaving soon. Little did she know that I move back home after college and not leave again for 3 years! I was like the prodigal daughter!

Hugs to you and your daughter both!
