She pulled together this outfit and asked, "How do I look? Do you think it could pass for 40's Mafia?"
Me: "No, you look like me. Don't you think so, Bryan?"
Bryan: "Yes, you look just like your mom."
"I'm not through with the outfit," she cried, running to find additional embellishments.

From the look of horror and disgust on her face, I have determined this is a phrase that should never be used with a teenager. I was not as pleased when she dug through my closet later in the week to find a "geeky costume." Perhaps this was her revenge.
I would also like to thank my bloggy friends for some awards I have received this week. SaraKatt has given me the "Your Blog Makes Me Happy" award.

The RedHead Riter gave me the "Loyal Commenter" award and the "Dragon Loyalty" award.

If you've never checked out their blogs, be sure to do so. They are both fun reads.
Of course, I am sharing my awards with my loyal readers and commenters. You all make me happy!

LOL! What a way to scare your child!
ReplyDeleteOh how my own daughter hates it when people say she looks like me. She does...
ReplyDeleteAre these old pics because I don't see a cast?
ConCats on your awards!!! And yes, that's sure IS a way to scare your teen...
ReplyDeleteOh Pam, that was just...evil! *L* Remember one of my scariest moments was when I looked in the mirror one morning and swore I saw my mother looking back! {shudder} Think most of us live in fear of turning into our mothers. Hope she wasn't traumatized too badly. ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL! too funny! that is surely one way to scare them! LOL!
ReplyDelete*giggle*
ReplyDeleteHow funny, she is so cute !
ReplyDeleteScary! LOL The other day my teenage sister was looking through my mom's closet for an outfit for "Ugly Sweater Day" at her school.
ReplyDeleteTelling a teen girl she looks like her mom is the scariest thing you could say. Keep that in mind next time she's bothering you! ;o) Love it! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats!
GREAT picture I especially love the boots! Congrats on the awards they are well deserved
ReplyDeleteKatherine hears people telling her that she looks like me. I shudder to think what she will look like when someone tells her that she dresses like me.

ReplyDeleteHi Pam
ReplyDeleteLol...just like when someone tells you (esp if its your precious half) that you look like your mom, and sound like her...haha! Fun!
My kids always look to my closet for tacky day. Should I be insulted?
ReplyDeleteOh and daughter #2 looks just like I did at her age. People tell her all the time. I feel sorry for her because who wants to look like their mom? Not me. LOL
Your daughter makes the best faces!
ReplyDeleteOur older daughter looks like my husband. She has repeatedly expressed her happiness in not resembling me. As if we have control over any of this.
I wonder why we don't want to look like our mums?
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your awards!
ROFLOL! Yep, that phrase makes my daughter's head spin too.
ReplyDeleteYep! Big mistake!!! However for my son, it's "get a job and cut your hair!" Big turn off no matter what you were just laughing and talking about!
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! Maybe it's a good thing that so far I only have boys! Haha!
ReplyDeleteLOL at the horror of looking like mom!
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious! On a serious note, our church ladies had a stylist come in and help us with our wardrobe problems. She said something profound. She said that if/when we berate ourselves, saying things like "I'm fat", etc. that it affects our daughters with their self-image. Why? Because when they hear, "You look just your mother", they think that they must be fat too. I never thought of it that way and I'm trying not to berate myself in front of my daughter. I know I shouldn't do it at all, but it's hard to completely stop after doing it for so long.
